Budget planning

Trademark Registration Cost in Singapore

Separate official IPOS fees, professional work and possible later procedure so a per-class filing price is not mistaken for the complete budget.

Key decision

Classes and specification wording determine the starting official fee

Singapore trademark registration cost is driven primarily by the number of classes and whether the goods or services use IPOS pre-approved descriptions. As at 20 August 2026, IPOS lists S$280 per class for a specification fully adopted from its Classification Database and S$410 per class otherwise; current official fees should be rechecked before filing.

Singapore-specific framework

What this work should cover

Official application fee

As checked on 2 September 2026, an online TM4 application is S$280 per class where every item is from the IPOS Classification Database and S$410 per class otherwise.

Professional work

Search, registrability review, owner and class planning, drafting, filing and reporting should be scoped separately.

Later contingencies

Deficiency, objection, extension, hearing, opposition, recordal and renewal work are not automatically included in a base filing quotation.

Multi-market budget

A Singapore filing does not include Malaysia or other countries; direct and Madrid-route costs require separate country planning.

Representative situation

Put the IPOS issue into commercial context

A business sells software, training and retail services. Map each actual activity and description before quoting: one broad class label may miss activities, while unnecessary classes increase official fees and maintenance cost.

FAQ

Singapore-specific questions

Is the IPOS fee charged per mark or per class?

The current TM4 application fee is class-based. Multiple marks or additional classes therefore change the official-fee calculation.

Why do pre-approved descriptions affect cost?

IPOS publishes a lower per-class TM4 fee when all specification items are adopted from its Classification Database. The wording must still fit the actual business.

Does the filing quote include every future step?

Not necessarily. Search, filing, objection, hearing, opposition and renewal are distinct stages. The scope should state what is included and what would be quoted only if needed.
